The course can be challenging, but if you speak to any rescue diver, they will tell you that it is the most enjoyable diving course they have done.
There’s plenty of action as you go through the exercises, dealing with tired and unconscious divers, in water resuscitation, egress and exit techniques as well as first aid for pressure related accidents.
Exercises include;
Tired Diver,
Panicked Diver,
Response to a Conscious Victim from the Shore,
Distressed Diver Underwater,
Missing Diver,
Surfacing the Unconscious Diver,
Unconscious Diver at the Surface,
Egress with an Unconscious Diver,
First Aid for Pressure Injuries;
Response from Shore to an Unconscious Victim.
Each exercise builds on the others to provide a complete framework for dealing with a diving emergency.
Academics will cover topics of Self Rescue, Diver Stress, Diving First Aid and CPR, Emergency Management and Equipment Considerations.
With knowledge retention ensured with a final multiple choice exam.
You must be aged 12 or above, and certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver. Divers from other training agencies will need to show proof of certification beyond entry level, including experience of deep, and navigation dives. NonSDI divers and those who haven’t dived for some time may be required to undertake a Scuba Review.
Completion of the Rescue Diver Course requires a valid First Aid and CPR qualification to have been taken in the past 2 years. EFR First Aid fully meets these requirements as a basic training course in CPR and emergency care.
